2014 has been a fantastic year for the Carver Group with the expansion of it's Residential department - we opened an office in Hurworth, extended our sales team to our Head Office at St Cuthberts Way and employed 6 new members of staff! 

With our recent success at The Negotiator Awards we are immensely proud of our achievements in the last 12 months and hope to improve the service we offer even more over the next 12 months!

Nick & Gordon Carver win Silver at the Negotiator Awards!

At the prestigious Negotiator Awards held at The London Hilton, Park Lane Nick and Gordon Carver were voted runners up in the best Estate Agent covering all the North East and North West of England. The only agent in the North East to be shortlisted, they were narrowly beaten by the eventual national winners voted best Estate Agent in the Country. The winners Ryder Dutton beat off the likes of top London Agent Foxtons.

With well known comedian and actor Alexander Armstrong presenting, around 750 estate agents and suppliers gathered to celebrate the best of the best.

This year was the awards biggest year, with the President of the NAEA, the Global Resident Director of RICS and the Chairman of the Property Ombudsman included in the independent judging panel of 21.

The winter months are approaching and while we hope they are mild and don't cause too much disruption to our days, there is always the risk that the cold weather will cause damage to properties, particularly those that are left empty during this time.

If you are selling an empty house we would recommend you switch the heating on to timed and turn the water off - if you don't want to put the heating on we would advise draining the whole system down to prevent any damage.  Frozen pipes, cold water tanks in the loft, frozen gutters can all lead to damp, leaks, and water damage to any property.

Any damage, no matter how easy it is to rectify can put potential buyers off your property so it is always best to prevent it from happening in the first place.

Create the best impression for viewings

Remember we will quite often be showing people your property, so to create the best impression put the heating on timed.  This will help create a warmer environment for the viewing and enables people to visualise it as their home much better, hopefully encouraging a sale.  

It also helps keep our accompanied viewer Emma warm as she spends all day showing people around empty houses! 

Last month we announced the participants for Movember - now the boys reveal their efforts - some better than others! I think it's fair to say James has won out of the 3 of them - it does help that he has dark hair though! Well done guys!!

FUNDRAISING FOR HERRIOT HOSPICE

So nice to hear that we managed to help Herriot Hospice raise over &2,500!! We donated the first prize of &500 in their grand prize draw, to attract people to buy tickets for this great cause. James Carver (please excuse his Movember Tash) presented the winning cheque to the winner, Claire Brown, last week.
