Success leads to new jobs drive

Original article in The Northern Echo Weekend Homes

Nick & Gordon Carver Residential is recruiting up to nine new members of staff following a buoyant 2013 in which the company sold more than &120m worth of residential property, a 34 per cent increase on the previous year.

Defying a modest upturn in the housing market in the North-East, Nick and Gordon Carver Residential not only increased property sales but also arranged &35m in mortgages, an increase of 40 per cent on the previous year.

As a result of the upturn in business, Carver Residential - which has offices in Darlington, Newton Aycliffe, Richmond and Northallerton - has created vacancies for a mortgage advisor, a residential valuer in Darlington, four sales negotiators, two staff to accompany potential buyers on viewings and a PA to the directors.

"We have experienced a terrific upturn in business over the past 12 months and need to increase our staffing to ensure we continue to provide the best service possible to our clients" said director Gordon Carver.

"We appear to be bucking the trend with a significant increase in residential sales, and it is our intention to capitalise on this by investing in our people, premises and services.

"In addition to the jobs being created, we will be refurbishing two of our offices this year and making some improvements to our website. Our investment programme is designed to provide an unrivalled and outstanding service to sellers and buyers throughout all of our local branches"

During 2013, 5,900 people registered an interest in buying residential property with the company, which arranged 10,250 viewings.  The growth in residential sales was greatest in Darlington, where there was a 45 per cent increase on 2012 sales, with Newton Aycliffe at 25 per cent and Richmond and Northallerton both at 22 per cent.

"We have retained a nationally recognised professional trainer to ensure all our staff are equipped with the skills and knowledge they require, and we are keen to start the recruitment process and attract the right people to work for us" added Gordon.

As of March 2014 the Carver Group has recruited a number of new employees, who we will be introducing in our next issue!  Anyone interested in working for the Carver Group or applying for the positions that are being created should e-mail sales manager David Buckle at davidb@carvergroup.co.uk or write to the head office at 18 St Cuthbert's Way, Darlington, DL1 1GB

Simon Thomas, iViewProperty

“iViewProperty is delighted to be working with such a progressive & proactive agent as Nick and Gordon Carver Residential, whose staff have already impressed us with their friendly and professional attitude. Great quality media is key to finding the best buyer for each property, and Carvers were already leading the market with the standard of their marketing material. Adding iViewProperty video tours ensures that Carvers are doing more than any other agent in the area to maximise the sale price & reduce time on the market for their vendors. Existing clients are finding that homes marketed with video are selling more quickly than those without, and the additional interest generated is helping to secure stronger sales prices.”

James Carver, Branch Manager

“As a company we are constantly looking for ways to improve our marketing methods to ensure we give our clients and their properties the best possible exposure. Online video sites such as YouTube and Vimeo are more prevalent then they have ever been, with many people accessing videos on tablets and mobile devices. We had noticed a number of southern agents adopting the video tour as a marketing method and were very impressed with the way they presented the property. When we met with Simon (iview property Videos) we were also impressed with the high quality of video he produces which are designed to attract more attention to the properties we are marketing. We've seen proof of this already with a new instruction having 133 video views in just 48 hours”.
