Carvers Sponsor the Annual Hurworth Country Show

Last month, Darlington Valuer Sonia and Sales Negotiator Lewis set up a stall at the annual Hurworth Country Fair. The fair was full with a mixture of small local traders, charities and businesses together with animals and produce. Sonia and Lewis welcomed the opportunity to support the local community of Hurworth, for which we have an office in, and help answer any questions people had regarding the property market at this current time.

There were more than 70 categories in the produce and craft competition as well fair rides, dancers, a Viking re-enactment, brass band, traditional Punch and Judy show and pig racing to keep everyone entertained.

Dating back to 1850 this large three/four bedroom detached property is situated approximately 10 minutes drive from Darlington. The current owners have substantially extended the property to include Oscar’s Barn, an award-winning Holiday Let, currently run as a business providing extra income. Both properties benefit from an elevated position which provide outstanding countryside views to the south.

Limekiln Cottage comprises entrance hallway, formal dining room and open-plan living/family rooms with patio doors to the rear gardens. The kitchen/breakfast room features a central island and makes for an extremely sociable space. A large split level annexe adjoins the sitting room with stairs down to the bedroom area and up to a mezzanine level which leads to a beautiful Jacuzzi bath/shower room (this area has often been used as a guest bedroom for clients of “Oscar’s Barn”). The main entrance hallway has a hidden staircase leading down to the wine cellar. The first floor comprises a double bedroom with en-suite bath/shower room and a large master bedroom which was previously two bedrooms but could be retro-converted if required. This master bedroom features a dressing room area and en-suite bathroom.

Externally there is a large gravel parking area accessed via electric double gates and features beautifully maintained landscaped gardens with a summerhouse, several patio areas and wildlife pond.

Oscar’s Barn offers first floor accommodation above the garage/workshop and is accessed via an external staircase which leads into the kitchen/breakfast room, separate bathroom/WC, an inner hallway with useful storage spaces and a doorway giving access to the stunning studio-style bedroom/living area. The views from this room are truly magnificent through the floor-to-ceiling windows and should be viewed to be fully appreciated.

World Cycling Championships in North Yorkshire

The UCI Road World Cycling Championship involved a total of 15 events taking place across North Yorkshire. Northallerton had the pleasure of hosting the start of the Men Time Trial, which ended in Harrogate whereas Richmond hosted the start of the Men's Junior Road Race.

Both of our offices were incredibly proud of the towns and the opportunity, our Northallerton office had a page in the tour brochure and our Richmond office decorated the front window display with some incredible artwork by Wacky Jackie Art
